If you haven't decided where to go for Valentine's Day yet, try to get a reservation at Pasta D'Arte Trattoria Italiana (6311 North Milwaukee, Chicago 60646) for an authentic Italian meal. Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen in this city (which I love considering they are my favorite), but this is not one to skip over and definitely stands out in my eyes. Actually, skip the rest and come here! If you can't get in for this Valentine's Day, don't hang up the phone-choose another day that is available and get yourself over there asap.
I came here on a cold Friday night and immediately was greeted warmly by all the workers there. The ambience was a beautiful blend of traditional, trendy, cozy, and upscale all wrapped in one-is that safe to say? I think so, considering they also have a bar area where you can sip on wine and grab a meal while dreaming of your next vacation to where else-Italy! It definitely motivated me to put it on my bucket list one day.
Now on to the food. Chef and owner Mark Giannini, who comes from a family of restaurant owners, suggested we try one of his family's recipes from the Old Country called the Braciole di Carne (pictured above). I have frequented many Italian restaurants in the city, and worked as a hostess in a few of them myself and I have never heard of this dish so I was so stoked to give it a try. It was fantastic-hearty, tender and savory. It's the perfect dish to warm up to during this polar vortex. I loved the fact that it was different than the typical dishes you might see, but I have tried their other dishes before and they are also excellent. Everything is good here and made with fresh, quality ingredients.
So I think I gushed enough over this place, and hopefully convinced you to check it out. It will be totally worth it.
