The Chinese calendar says 2014 is the year of the wooden horse, but in the Chicago it’s the Year of the Arcade Bar.
Prior to 2014, we had three solid locations for classic arcade games and cold drinks: Logan Hardware’s arcade museum (free games, no drinks), Emporium Arcade in Wicker Park (pay to play games, but cheap craft beers) and Headquarters Beerade in Lakeview (free games, but pricey drinks).
In the first month of 2014, we’ve been hit with information regarding new locations, offerings and games. To help you keep everything straight, here’s all the information you need to know.
Logan Hardware Arcade Bar (Logan Square - 2410 W. Fullerton Ave.)
What started as a hidden arcade museum within a record store will now be a full-fledge arcade bar, with an emphasis on great games.
Headquarters Beercade (River North - 213 W. Institute Pl.)
The new location is at the northern edge of River North in what used to be the club Enclave.
Emporium Arcade Bar (Logan Square – 2300 block of Milwaukee Ave.)
Joining the hottest block in Logan Square, Emporium is using their new space to bring in bigger table games like pool tables, foosball tables, air hockey tables, pinball machines and Ice Chexx (bubble hockey).
