It’s an exciting time for Chicago’s downtown hotel scene as a number of new boutique hotels are popping up throughout the Loop and River North. Inside the newest hotel, The Godfrey Hotel on LaSalle and Huron, is the newest rooftop bar: IO Urban Roofscape.

Located on the 4th floor with views of River North skyline, IO Urban Roofscape will make a name for itself thanks to the massive glass atrium and retractable glass roof. A sunny day this is a great place to work on your tan.

Along with the natural light and skyline view, IO includes an outdoor fire pit, a mini waterfall, small a video wall and if the sun is too much for you, the booths feature umbrellas that look like they were imported from South Beach.

The stylish white booths are enticing enough to make this a go to spot for after work drinks, but make no mistake, they’re designed to handle a pair of stilettos and late night dancing.

The lounge is still developing their food and drinks menu, so stick with wine for now, but watch the space. During the summer, this is where everyone will be heading.
