Beer lovers, if you don’t have a ticket to the American Beer Classic, cancel your plans for Saturday, May 11th and buy one ASAP.

Billed as the ultimate opportunity to celebrate and sample America’s finest beers, the event brings together hundreds of breweries, many of them unavailable in the Chicago area, and hundreds of beers to sample. With the majority of the breweries in the small to mid-size category, attendees can learn and connect with people from beer communities as far away as Oregon and Hawaii. Each with its own style and culture, the cities and breweries represented make this event a sharing of flavor and knowledge.

Taking place at Soldier Field, one of the coolest elements is that the American Beer Classic puts you on the field with a beer in your hand. Normally this type of behavior is reserved for drunk Bears fans, but here it’s totally acceptable. Just don’t try streaking.

To make the most of the event, plan your day like you would plan for Lollapalooza. Do your homework on who is coming, check out their websites, make a list of must see breweries and leave a little time in your schedule to go with the hops.

A few breweries to read up on before you arrive include: Boulevard Brewing Co. (Kansas City), Kona Brewing Co. (Kona, Hawaii) and Widmir Brothers Brewing (Portland).

Ticket prices are based on how soon you purchase them, so save your spot, and some cash, by purchasing a ticket before April 15th for $50. To purchase a ticket, click here.

  • General Admission tickets include a sampling cup, access to Soldier Field, South Courtyard, and Mezzanine levels, an American Beer Classic booklet, and a wide variety of 2oz samples.

  • Designated Driver tickets include access to special DD tastings, a DD Lounge and a high five from your friends.
