Nearly every restaurant, hotel and bar are fighting for your Valentine’s Day dollars, but one offer shines above the rest: Thompson Chicago’s tech-free retreat. From the moment you check in, the “Digital Detox” package is the ultimate way to rediscover the art of conversation.

Before your adventure begins, you’ll do two things: set up a virtual assistant who will act as your emergency contact and hand your phone to the concierge. Don’t worry, your phone will be secure and the concierges promise not to play Candy Crush or Words with Friends.

Then you’re off to explore the Gold Coast for a few hours with an old school map of the neighborhood and an itinerary designed specifically for you.

In the evening, dinner will place you at the heart of Nico Osteria's kitchen as you watch the chefs prepare every detail of dinner from the kitchen counter.

The night ends with a candlelit bath turndown service. This is optional, but let’s be honest, who’s going to turn it down? Afterwards, slip into the set of complimentary monogrammed bathrobes made from the fabric of angels – terrycloth.

When you’re ready to start the next day, a few mugs of Intelligentsia will help you get out of bed. But there’s no rush as your special checkout time is 4pm.

Valid Feb. 13-16. Rates start at $299 per night. Click here to book it.
