If you've turned on the radio or TV this morning you've probably heard of the Chicago Helps Haiti media day. Almost every one of the city's media outlets is teaming up to raise money for the victims of the massive earthquake and its aftershocks. The telethon, staffed by 1,500 volunteers from Hewitt Associates, has been running from 5am and will continue until 11pm tonight and is raising money for the American Red Cross Haitian campaign.

Participating stations include WARU-AM, WBBM-TV, WCIU-TV, WCEV-AM, WFLD-TV, WGN-AM, WGN-TV, WLS-TV, WMAQ-TV, WN TD-AM, WPWR-TV, WPWX-FM, WSNS-TV, WSRB-FM, WTTW-TV, WYCA-FM, CLTV, and Me-TV. You can donate by calling 800-RED-CROSS, texting Haiti to 90999 ($10 will be charged to your cell phone bill), or visiting the American Red Cross website.

Tonight there's a separate fundraiser at English. The $20 suggested donation will go towards Heartland Alliance, who is sending a team early next week. Several Chicago restaurants are also participating by offering diners the opportunity to add $1 to their check through Sunday. Restaurants include Boka, Branch 27, Province, Salpicon, and Rick Bayless' Topolobampo. SushiSamba Rio is participating in the restaurant drive, and they're also the location of the after party for tonight's event. You can see all participating restaurants and make reservations here.
