Long Grove

Long Grove is a village community that provides open space and historical character – and no real estate tax.

The village is large in size and small in population by design. Residences must be on an acre or more of land. The average price of new construction in 2003 was $557,800! While Long Grove strives to maintain a rural image, it’s obviously not an “aw shucks” community.
The central business district, which is a really fancy way of saying where all the shops are, is in the heart of town.
Many of these shops are housed in structures dating back to the Village’s beginnings as a German community. Germans still make up a large proportion of the residents, and other northern European and Slavic ancestries make up most of the rest.
To maintain its heritage and promote tourism, Long Grove hosts several festivals throughout the year. There are festivals featuring chocolate, strawberries, and apples (now I’m getting hungry) as well as an annual art festival and Irish Days.
