This week the Ritz-Carlton Chicago announced Chef Martin Knaubert will lead their culinary team as Executive Chef. A veteran in the kitchen and hospitality industry, the Ritz-Carlton Chicago is Chef Knaubert's eighth hotel and fourth assignment as Executive Chef with the Four Seasons group.
Born and raised in western Germany, only a few miles from France, Chef Knaubert spent much of his childhood experimenting with food - he could make a vanilla sauce before he knew how to tie his shoes - and has been part of the industry for nearly 20 years. His career has taken him to Berlin, Palm Beach, Vancouver, Maui, Damascus, Shanghai and most recently Beijing.
“I am here to be part of a community that loves good food and is proud of their produce,” Chef Knaubert states. He continues by saying, “My role here is to contribute to the culinary experience of making people feel good and create a sense of belonging.”
During his time at The Ritz, Chef Martin will work with local farmers to put his own twist on the menu.
