This week City Tavern in the South Loop closed. The team behind Chicago Firehouse opened the Revolution-era restaurant and bar during the summer of 2012.
The restaurant went through a number of chefs and menus during its two year stint, but couldn’t hit the right stride.
The management team issued a short statement that said, “Future plans for the space are undetermined at this time. Thank you for your patronage over the last two years.”
While it’s never fun to see an aesthetically pleasing space close, the South Loop is preparing for a number of new openings including Vice District Brewing, Villains Chicago, First Draft, and Dollop Powered by Metropolis.
