Soho House in the West Loop is official open, as is the new ground floor restaurant Chicken Shop Chicago. Chicken Shop is open for daily dinner and brunch on the weekend. It is one of four public spaces that opens today, joining Pizza East, Cowshed Spa, and The Allis bar.
“We spent many months searching for the right ingredients, as it’s important to us that everything is fresh and sourced locally. We wanted to create a tasty, rustic feel, something that tasted like a home cooked meal, but was affordable,” said Nick Jones, CEO and founder of Soho House.
Inspired by Nick’s passion for home cooked chicken, the menu is centered on rotisserie chicken, and is the only main course available. The team has researched and carefully sourced the best free range chicken available, featuring air-chilled chickens from Pine Manor Farm, a second-generation family farm in Indiana. The unique air-chilling process eliminates water retention, which results in more flavors and a crispier skin.
Each bird at Chicken Shop is prepared through a process carefully designed and tested by Jones and his team. The chickens are first marinated overnight and then steamed in order to lock in the moisture. To finish, they are cooked over charcoal on a custom-designed rotisserie, which was developed in-house.
The restaurant’s interior is feels like a classic 1950’s American general store with green and white linoleum floor tiles, reclaimed wood ceilings, vintage chairs, and an open to watch the chefs at work. A collection of vintage chicken themed kitchen items decorate the room giving it an approachable vibe.
The menu will featuring whole, halved or quartered chickens, along with classic sides such as a house made coleslaw, corn on the cob, and a variety of desserts including apple pie and a warm chocolate brownie. A number of craft beers and wines will be available.
For breakfast and brunch, Soho House favorites such as poached egg and avocado on toast and corn hash and poached eggs will be offered. On the sweeter side, fried chicken and waffles with egg gravy will also be featured.
Originally launched in London in 2012, this is the restaurant’s first US outpost, joining additional locations in London’s Kentish Town, Tooting and Whitechapel neighborhoods.
Chicken Shop Chicago will offer dinner service daily from 5pm-11pm. Weekend brunch service will be available Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm.
