This weekend, The Local Tourist donned its cowboy boots and headed to Soldier Field to catch country greats Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan as they serenaded a sold out stadium as part of Bryan’s “That’s My Kind of Night” summer tour.
But before we were treated to the vocal talents of the denim-clad studs, we mingled with the other stars of the evening – 45 US Army and Air Force troops, guests of Bryan and Miller Lite.
Winners of the Ultimate Concert Experience promotion from the country star and beer brand, current and former service men and women scored all-expense paid trip to Chicago for the concert. The American heroes chatted with TLT over a few cold brews before the show, sharing lots of laughs - and even some home renovation tips! - with us and the rest of the group.
San Antonio winners Holly and Brian Aguridakis were thrilled to be a part of the experience and hadn’t wasted a moment since their arrival in the Windy City. Straight off a day of touring our beloved city, they were full of energy and excitement at the opportunity to meet other service men and women – and of course, to watch one of the world’s biggest country stars perform.
And as the sky light up with fireworks, we were humbled to be in the company of so many people who tirelessly defend our country, inspiring us to honor the heroes in our armed forces not just on military holidays, but every day.
A favorite TLT moment from the show was watching Dierks and Bryan catch Miller Lite cans tossed up to the stage from fans. We’re still working to perfect the one-handed open...and yes, we’re still trying to get the ridiculously-catchy “Drunk on a Plane” out of our heads.
Bryan’s That’s My Kind of Night Tour continues through October and will host troops from across the counrty. Full tour dates are listed on the singer’s website.
