2017 James Beard Foundation Awards Restaurant and Chef Award Semifinalists Announced

This morning the 2017 James Beard Foundation Awards Restaurant and Chef Award Semifinalists were announced, and Chicago has representatives in every category. Chefs Tony Mantuano and Carrie Nahabedian return as semi-finalists for Outstanding Chef, and this year Rick Bayless’ Topolobampo is in the running for Outstanding Restaurant. Also deserving of recognition is Charles Joly as a semi-finalist in the Outstanding Wine, Spirits, or Beer Professional category for another year. In fact, there are several repeat nominees, and they’re indicated below.

The prestigious awards will be announced in Los Angeles on March 15, and the awards ceremony will once again take place in Chicago. On May 1, 2016, the James Beard Awards Gala will take place at Lyric Opera of Chicago.
