If you know scotch you know The Macallan, and if you know The Macallan you like it. This is from someone who’s been to Whiskyfest from start to finish five years running. I’m a big fan of brown liquors, and of all I’ve sipped and sampled over the years The Macallan remains one of my favorites.
Quince Restaurant, 1625 Hinman Ave, Evanston, is hosting a dinner fit for this noble and historic whisky. The restaurant is a previous host of one of our signature Chef’s Table events, and even though it was in 2011 guests are still talking about what an amazing experience Chef Andy Motto and his staff provided.
On January 25, four courses will each be paired with a different vintage of the single malt, and Chef Motto has outdone himself:
Smoked Sturgeon – brussels sprouts, shitake, bacon
The Macallan 10 year
Roquefort Ravioli – walnut, apple, sherry
The Macallan 12 year
Venison – black trumpet mushroom, polenta, huckleberry
The Macallan 15 year
Chocolate – caramel, coffee
The Macallan 17 year
A Macallan brand ambassador will be at the dinner to regale guests with stories of the distillery’s history and provide tasting notes on the paired scotches. Tickets are $75 plus tax and gratuity. I suggest you reserve your space quickly by calling (847)570-8400.
