Gone are the stereotypes about women in beer. It used to be that, if a woman did order a beer, it was expected that she wanted something “light”. More and more bars and bartenders are recognizing that women, just like men, will drink everything from fruity berry weis beers to the most hopcentric hopforward beer they can find.
Women do more than just drink beer. Women brew it, sell it, market it, and deliver it, and our next AlphaBeer event is showcasing Women In Beer.
It makes sense. The event was inspired by a woman – my mom. It’s hosted by me – a woman. And it’s emceed by a woman – the delightfully informative and charming Jill Houk. This time we’re partnering with Barley’s Angels Chicago, a group that works to expand the appreciation and understanding of craft beer among women by bringing them together with craft beer professionals to explore craft beer.
