Because Laughter Is The Best Medicine: Sharing For Sheri Fundraiser

Enjoy a great night of laughs and help support Sheri Johnson Tuesday, March 11 at Hawthorn Woods Country Club.  Sheri is an employee of Zanies Comedy Club in Vernon HIlls who unfortunately suffered a stroke this past New Years Eve.  Medical costs of her rehabilitation and recovery are mounting so her friends put together this benefit to offset her expenses.  There is a suggested $20 cash donation at the door.

If you’ve ever known anyone who has suffered a stroke then you are aware of how quickly a person’s life can change.  My mother had several strokes.  She was a strong, highly intellegent woman and with each stroke became a prisoner of the limitations of her body.  Seeing her have to use a wheelchair and re-learn how to speak was tough on the family and was incredibly frustrating for her.  So even though I don’t personally know Sheri I can certainly empathize with her situation.  I do not know the severity of her stroke but I hope she is able to recover as best she can.  My buddy and former co-worker Dobie Maxwell has spearheaded this fundraiser for her with fellow comedians that Shari has supported over the years.  It’s a testament to Sheri’s character, how everyone is jumping at the chance to help her.  Laughter can be the best medicine!
