Beer and Opera, wait…what?

Opera and beer are not a common combination, but come this Tuesday you will be able to enjoy them both simultaneously. The local chapter of the nationwide organization, Opera on Tap, will be at the Roger’s Park fixture, Heartland Café. Opera on Tap, as described on their Facebook page, is a nationwide non-profit organization devoted to making opera more accessible to everyone by taking it out of the concert halls and putting it into venues where people least expect to hear it.

Under new leadership, Opera on Tap resumes performances at Heartland Café the second Tuesday of every month with a different theme. You will be able to try dishes from Heartland’s kitchen prepared especially to correspond with each theme. This Tuesday the theme is Introducing…Opera on Tap!  and you will get to enjoy an introduction to some of Heartland Café’s new menu items.  These include a mini Heartland Salad, Greens Beans and Grains salad, and the Chef salad, along with an appetizer sampler consisting of chips and dip, fritters and skins.

Heartland Café has dedicated itself to community building for over 35 years, serving sustainable, local food and now works with certified organic Earth First Farms of southwest Michigan.

For more information, visit the Facebook Event page here. The return of Opera on Tap is this Tuesday, November 11, 2014 8:00 p.m., at Heartland Café 7000 N. Glenwood in Chicago. Admission is free, food and drink are available for purchase.
