Burrito Beach opens a new location at Northwestern Memorial Hospital

Burrito Beach, Chicago’s original fast casual Mexican grill, recently opened a sixth location, now serving guests on the 2nd floor of the Feinberg Pavilion at Northwestern Memorial Hospital located at 251 East Huron.

Founded in 1995, Burrito Beach is the original fast, casual, and fresh “build-your-own” style Mexican grill in the Chicago market.  Burrito Beach offers high-quality ingredients and inventive combinations in a casual setting, putting forth the best taste, service, and product. Joining downtown Chicago stand-alone locations and a branch at O’Hare Airport, the new Northwestern Memorial Hospital address delivers what Burrito Beach is known for – approachable and fresh Mexican options – with a modern new look and feel.  Set inside the Feinberg Pavilion on the 2nd floor of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Burrito Beach is perfectly situated in the middle of the busy medical environment for both diners “on the go” and those who want to sit and enjoy a relaxing meal.

I was recently invited to check out this new location and sample a number of their signature items. Without fail, everything was superb and delightfully fresh. Nearly everything is made in-house from the freshest ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible. The menu is designed so that patrons can customize nearly everything, providing a perfect option to curate the meal you truly want instead of relying on someone else’s version of the “perfect” meal. I am a particular fan of crispy taco shells, and they offer those as one of the three taco options – freshly made that day, of course.

In keeping with their mission, but particularly aligning with their location next to a hospital, Burrito Beach offers a number of healthy options. Their “Beach Body” menu is available for health-conscious customers, and exciting flavor combinations are introduced regularly. Diners find Baja chicken burritos, Cabo shrimp nachos, grass-fed brisket tacos, housemade guacamole, and other favorites. The website contains a special page with calorie and nutrition information so that health-conscious diners can plan their meals in advance.

This newest location now sets the bar even higher with new health-conscious Smoothie Bowls for breakfast, including:

  • The Beach Acai Bowl (Organic acai, banana, blueberries, strawberries, coconut, almonds, and orange juice)
  • Blueberry Yogurt Bowl (Frozen Greek yogurt blended with blueberries, topped with granola, banana, strawberries, coconut, almonds, and Greek yogurt)
  • A Baja Morning (Banana, blueberries, chocolate syrup, creamy peanut butter, and 2% milk, topped with granola and strawberries)
  • Avocado Is For Lovers (Avocado, frozen Greek yogurt, agave, blueberries, banana, strawberries, pecans, coconut, almonds, and Greek yogurt)

One of the most exciting new additions at this latest location is the “Treats by the Beach” menu. This dessert menu includes homemade frozen custard and frozen yogurt, where guests have the availability to enjoy shakes, cups, cones, and concretes – a blend of frozen custard or yogurt mixed with a choice of topping.  On my recent visit, I sampled two of these superior concretes:

  • Triple Chocolate Blackout (Hot fudge, dark chocolate chips, fudge brownies)
  • This Won’t Hurt A Bit (Eli’s Famous Cheesecake, strawberries, cinnamon graham crackers)

Believe me – you will definitely want to save room for these! Frozen yogurt is fine, but for a real treat I suggest going for the custard.
