Cabana Club rooftop bar now open in Wicker Park/Bucktown

Patio season is finally upon us, and Chicagoans have begun to flock to their favorite outdoor spots for dining, drinking, and people watching. Nothing says “summertime” in Chicago as much as a great rooftop bar, and one of the newest and best – Cabana Club – has just opened atop the new Robey Hotel in Wicker Park/Bucktown, located at 1616 North Milwaukee Avenue.

The Robey Hotel stands at the six corners intersection of North, Milwaukee, and Damen in a stunning 1929 Art Deco building formerly known as Northwest Tower. The hotel takes its name from Robey Street – a north/south artery that would eventually be renamed as Damen Avenue. Perched atop this lovely new boutique hotel is a rooftop bar unlike any other in Chicago.

Cabana Club, on the 6th floor of the hotel, offers 180 degree views of Chicago, but from the west. This is one of the few spots in the city where you can glimpse the skyline from this western view. Just below sits the Damen Blue Line stop so you will be sure to catch a glimpse of a passing train or two. Cabana Club also features a pool! According to the Cabana Club website:

Nothing says getting away like getting in the pool. That’s why—despite some well-meaning skeptics—we had to have one. We like to think of this rooftop oasis as a little slice of summer vacation in the heart of the city. Sure, Lake Michigan offers miles of waterfront—but can you order a mojito from your lounge chair? We didn’t think so.

Cabana Club features a delightful, Mexican-themed cocktail program and a menu of casual Latin bites. Be sure to sample their tostadas which include shrimp, tuna poke, octopus, chicken, and beef. For cocktails, try the Mezcal Margarita, the Paloma, or their own spicy version of a Michelada. Everything on both the food and drink menus is spot-on and superbly crafted.

What could be better than lounging beside a pool in the summertime with a great cocktail and some amazing food?

The Cabana Club is open 1 p.m. – 11 p.m., Sunday – Thursday; 1 p.m. – 12 a.m., Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 872-315-3083 or visit https://www.therobey.com/
