Chicago Hotels are Packaging Romance in the Windy City

Romance is in the air. Valentine’s Day is nearing and this year you want to do something really special for your loved one, but what? Some of downtown Chicago’s best hotels are taking the guesswork out of the holiday. They’ve put packages together that are sure to woo and can fit several budgets. The James boasts both the least expensive at $179 for a room with amenities, and the most expensive, with a $3500 extravagana that will leave you both breathless.

Hyatt Regency Chicago

Hyatt Regency Chicago is located on the Chicago River, just steps away from the Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, and the Theater District. They recently underwent a $90 million renovation, and this Valentine’s Day they’re enticing couples to stay with their Amour Package, which includes champagne and strawberries upon arrival, breakfast for two, and a 2pm guaranteed late checkout. Rate: $199 – $234

Trump International Hotel & Tower

Also on the river is Trump International Hotel & Tower. They’ve got three packages from which to choose, and any of them can be booked by visiting their website.

Unforgettable Romance: Stay for one night in a Deluxe King guestroom, receive a bottle of Champagne upon check-in. Dinner will be five courses for two at Sixteen. When you return to your room you’ll be greeted by turn down service and exotic truffles. The next morning snack on a continental breakfast, and then check out at 2pm (depending on availability). Rate: $675 plus tax, gratuity, and alcohol during dinner at Sixteen

Do Not Disturb: As you might imagine from the name, this package is all about staying in for the night: Champagne, strawberries, Kama Sutra chocolate body paint, turndown with a red rose and love poem, with a continental breakfast in the morning and checkout at 2pm (depending on availability). Rate: $489

Spa Indulgence: Did you know the Trump has guestrooms attached to their spa? Stay in one of these and you and your sweetheart will receive an in-room bath-for-two menu, 30% discount on spa treatments for two, and Continental breakfast, either at Sixteen or in your room. You’ll also get complimentary parking. Rate: $445

Weekend For Two: Stay at the James the weekend before Valentine’s Day and you’ll share a split of champagne, a special sweet turndown treat, and a $50 food and beverage credit to David Burke’s Primehouse. TLT recommends using that on their $75 Valentine’s Day Prix Fixe menu. Rate: begins at $179

The James Penthouse Lofts: This is the package for those wanting to experience the ultimate indulgence. You’ll stay in a 1400 sq ft Penthouse Loft, have access to their Chef Concierge and personal assistant and be chauffered in The James’ Audi Q7 TDI. But why would you want to leave when your turn down service includes candles, a custom drawn bath, a bed warmer, and your turn-down amenity of choice from David Burke’s Primehouse? You’ll also get to recline in custom bathrobes – and then even take them home. That aforementioned Valentine’s Day Prix Fixe menu will be served in your room with personalized menus and your own servers and sommelier. And fresh flowers. All of this can be yours for just $3500. If that’s just a little too rich for your blood but you still want to experience the Ultimate in romance, Hotel 71 proposes the Ultimate Proposal. You’ll dine on the 39th floor in the hotel’s penthouse ballroom, gazing out the floor to ceiling windows when you’re not gazing into each others’ eyes. The multi-course dinner is accompanied by paired wine and champagne served by private wait staff. If you really want to make it memorable, upgrade to private musicians, an a capella vocalist, dance floor for two, and a guestroom. Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel

This is Chicago’s newest hotel and the North American debut of this new upscale brand for Radisson. Their special package includes two splits of champagne and a box of chocolates, a room festooned with rose petals and Harlequin romance novels, and a $40 food and drink credit to Filini Bar & Restaurant.
