Diner en Blanc is a flash mob with class and panache. The “White Dinner” originated in Paris in 1988 and over 10,000 people now participate in the annual picnic. Everyone’s attire is completely white and diners bring everything needed, including china, glasses, and even the tables and a trash bag, which are also white, to a secret location announced the day of the event.
This year Diner en Blanc comes to Chicago. On August 27 a thousand people will meet at Harmonization Points throughout the city and travel via public transportation to the picnic destination. I’m pleased to announce that I will be one of the hosts, but don’t ask me where the picnic will be – once I do know, I’m sworn to secrecy!
Registration opens today at noon for 250 people, and each registrant is required to bring one guest.
