Cutlery not required! This month, Commons Club, Virgin Hotel Chicago’s restaurant and bar, launched Between the Buns. This guest chef series features special limited-time items from four well-known kitchens, including that of host Chef Moosah Reaume of Commons Club, Todd Stein of Nonna’s and The Bristol, Art Smith of Blue Door Kitchen & Garden, and The Fat Shallot, Chicago’s favorite food truck. Chef Moosah has invited each chef to join him in the kitchen to create a tasty handheld item, which is then featured on Commons Club’s menu for one week at a time. In addition to a special menu item, guests have selected a charity near and dear to their hearts. A portion of proceeds from the most-ordered item is donated to the winning chef’s charity of choice at the end of the series. Each item costs $12 and is available while supplies last in Commons Club between 5 and 10pm.
We are in week three of this exciting competition, and Chef Art Smith has taken the helm. With his “Art Bird” Sandwich of buttermilk fried chicken, spicy bread and butter pickles, Napa cabbage slaw, smoked Gouda pimento cheese, and fermented hot sauce aioli on brioche bun, Chef Art is hoping to raise money for his charity of choice, Common Threads.
The series will continue through November 4th with a special sandwich from Chicago’s favorite food truck, The Fat Shallot. Guests can enjoy the Truffle BLT with crispy bacon, arugula, tomato, avocado and truffle aioli on thick cut challah toast benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
