Benefit for Victims of the SXSW Tragedy
Heartland Café and Red Line Tap will host a benefit for Evan and Jamie West on Thursday, May 1st at 7 p.m. All proceeds from the benefit will go to help former Heartland Café & Red Line Tap employee Evan West, who was seriously injured by a hit and run driver fleeing a sobriety test at this year’s SXSW festival in Austin, TX. Evan's wife, Jamie West, was killed on the scene. Evan and Jamie worked at Heartland Café & Red Line Tap together, fell in love & after moving to Austin, TX, married in 2012.
The benefit will feature music from Red Line Disaster and special guests The Polkaholics and Can I Get an Amen at Red Line Tap. Whatever is received through this fund will help with the many costs related to Jamie's funeral and Evan's recovery, including arranging physical rehabilitation and legal representation. Donations can be made to the Evan West Fund and to Garrett State Bank (P.O. Box 29, Garrett, IN 46738 with a note that states the donation is for the Evan West Fund.
