DC is celebrating the launch of its next young adult (YA) graphic novel, TEEN TITANS: RAVEN during a 5-city national book tour with #1 New York Times best-selling author Kami Garcia (Beautiful Creatures) and fan-favorite artist Gabriel Picolo. On July 13, the duo will join forces at Anderson’s Bookshop to discuss reimagining superheroes and writing graphic novels, as well as sign copies of current and previous books for fans. As part of their nationwide tour, Garcia and Picolo will also visit the Washington, D.C. area, New York City, New Orleans, and Los Angeles before heading to San Diego Comic Con.
For fans unable to attend July 13’s festivities, Garcia and Picolo will also host a signing event at Challenger’s Comics the day before on July 12.
Launching on July 2, TEEN TITANS: RAVEN is the first installment of a multipart series that follows the coming-of-age journey of 17-year-old Rachel Roth. When a tragic accident takes the life of her foster mom—and Raven’s memory—she moves to New Orleans to live with her foster mother’s family. Raven remembers how to solve math equations and make pasta, but she can’t remember her favorite song or who she was before the accident. Her past and present begin to collide when more strange things happen during her final year of high school.
This book marks both Garcia and Picolo’s first-ever graphic novel and first work with DC. The adventure will continue in 2020 when the duo reunites for the second installment, TEEN TITANS: BEAST BOY. Fans can enjoy a sneak peek of the new title with a special excerpt included when they purchase TEEN TITANS: RAVEN.
On July 12 and 13, Chicago fans are encouraged to line up early to attend as space is on a first come, first served basis. The events will kick off with a fun discussion and will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.
