Every dog has its day during National Hot Dog Week at Bull & Bear

Bull & Bear, located at 431 N Wells St, brings back the highly anticipated “Dog Days of Summer,” event starting Monday, July 18, and lasting through Sunday, July 24. During this week, Bull & Bear celebrates summer’s iconic food – the hot dog – leading up to National Hot Dog Day, observed on July 23.

DineAmic Group Corporate Chef Jeremy Tannehill will take hot dogs to a whole new level, creating five one-of-a-kind dogs, each featured on a different day of the week. Plus, Chicago’s classic dog, the Chicago Style Wrigley Dog, will be available every day throughout the promotion. The inspiration for the menu focuses on famous major league ballparks around the United States. Fans of the food will get a taste of five different stadium dogs, each customized with that specific parks notable ingredients. The ballpark dogs, $9 each, will be available for lunch and dinner and will be accompanied by house-made potato chips.

Here’s the schedule for the week:

  • Monday, July 18: Atlanta Braves Dog | Turner Field (Fried hot dog, barbecue sauce, pulled pork, coleslaw, pickles)
  • Tuesday, July 19: Diamondback Dog | Chase Field (Steamed dog, chorizo, nacho cheese, tortilla strips)
  • Wednesday, July 20: White Sox Italian | U.S. Cellular Field (Italian sausage, peppers and onions, provolone cheese, red sauce, giardiniera)
  • Thursday, July 21: Cincinnati Cheese Coney | Great American Ball Park (Charred dog, chili, chopped onion, mounded shredded cheese)
  • Friday, July 22: Milwaukee Brewers Bratwurst | Miller Park (Grilled brat, sauerkraut, fried onion strings, brown mustard)

As if five ballpark dogs weren’t enough, Bull & Bear will also be offering an eating challenge called the “Chicago Style Home Wrecker” consisting of two Chicago Style foot long dogs, side-by-side. In the tradition of great Chicago dogs, these kosher dogs are topped with the six mandatory ingredients (mustard, relish, onion, tomato, sports peppers, and celery salt). Those brave enough to complete the challenge will receive the footlong on the house, as well as walk away with a “Homewrecker Champion” t-shirt and Bull & Bear bragging rights until Hot Dog Week 2017.
