Explore Chicago Inside and Out with Open House Chicago
Have you ever walked by a beautiful building and wondered its story? Attended a show and dreamed of days gone by and who’s lounged in the green room? Maybe you’ve heard stories of exclusive clubs with unrivaled views but couldn’t quite finagle an invitation.
Now you are invited, and welcome. This weekend buildings all over Chicago open their doors to the public for the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s Open House Chicago. Over 200 sites are there for the exploring, from private clubs, residential spaces, and offices to hotels, theaters and performance halls. Take a peek at design/architecture studios, schools, places of worship as well as manufacturing, cultural and government facilities.
No tickets are required for this free event but a few sites require RSVPs, like Birch Road Cellar and Social Club, and some are only for Chicago Architecture Foundation members, including Cliff Dwellers and Prudential Plaza.
Pictured is Lake Point Tower, Chicago’s only high-rise east of Lake Shore Drive. This view is from the 2.5 acre second story park, designed by the legendary Alfred Caldwell.
