Fan-Friendly No-Cover Bars to Watch the World Series (That aren't in Wrigleyville)

Yesterday I shared bars in Wrigleyville with no cover during the World Series. Today? Bars NOT in Wrigleyville with no cover during the World Series. Not only are they not charging a cover, these bars are business-as-usual, which means that they’re Cubs fans and they’re welcoming Cubs fans. We’ve also got a couple of breweries that are adding TV’s specifically for this historic weekend.

A.J. Hudson’s

There’s a reason we’ve hosted the last four AlphaBeer events at this bar. They know their beer, and their staff is great. How great? They can serve a beer for every letter of the alphabet in about 2 1/2 hours to a room full of thirsty fans. They’ll definitely be able to handle a bar full of thirsty Cubs fans this weekend. They’ve got televisions everywhere, including the patio if the weather’s nice. A.J. Hudson’s, 3801 N Ashland Ave

The Beer Bistro

I’m just guessing here, but I’m going to bet watching the World Series at Beer Bistro is going to be like hanging out with your best friends to watch the game, if all of your best friends are awesome Cubs fans and have great taste in beer. Owner Bob McDermott is the leader of that bunch, and he’s so cool you’ll still be able to get their Sunday special of $0.50 wings. As he said “Those specials got us to 103 Regular season Wins. Why change any of it?” The Beer Bistro, 1061 W Madison St.

Begyle Brewing

Begyle has no televisions – unless the Chicago Cubs are in the World Series! Drink some seriously great beer with some seriously laid-back brewers while watching the seriously amazing Cubbies. 1800 W Cuyler Ave

D.S. Tequila new

Get close(r) to the action at this Boys Town bar. They’ve got twenty screens showing the game and they’ve got a retractable roof, which you better believe will be open if the weather cooperates! They’re close enough to Wrigley that getting there may be an issue, so allow plenty of time. 3352 N Halsted

Dovetail Brewery

Just half a mile from Begyle, they’re also setting up TVs just for the game. After the World Series, they’re going right back out the door. If you get hungry there’ll be food trucks, as well as lots and lots of beer. Dovetail Brewery, 1800 W Belle Plain Ave

Kick new

As if the Cubs weren’t hot enough, you can heat things even more with some spicy food, six screens, and a patio party. 1943 W Byron St

Reggie’s

Watch the games on the Roof Deck (Friday and Sunday) or in the Music Joint (Saturday) at this South Loop bastion of cool. They’re also serving their regular specials, which include Deschutes drafts on Saturday and all-you-can-eat Sloppy Joe’s for $5 on Sunday. Bonus: after the games on Friday and Sunday you can celebrate with live music. Reggie’s, 2105 S State St

Shamrock Club

When I first moved to Chicago I worked at Kinzie Chophouse, which is right next door to this shotgun bar. I spent many an hour there, getting to know Kelly, Aileen, Abraham, and the rest. They’re still there 15 years later, which says more about this place than I ever could. Shamrock Club, 201 W Kinzie

Taco Joint new

Not only are they not charging a cover, they’re also offering $2 tacos and $3 cans of Bud and Bud Light during the game. You can also cheer on the team with $5 Cubbie Blue margaritas. You’ve got a choice of two locations: one in River North, at 158 W Ontario, and one in Lincoln Park, at 1969 N Halsted. Yay tacos!

Timothy O’Toole’s

This subterranean bar is a refuge for all-things sports, so it makes sense that they’d have a World Series Watch Party. No cover, drink specials, and IRISH NACHOS (I seriously love their Irish nachos). Plus they have 72 74 screens and a Peanut Party, Rally Towel Giveaway, Enter for a chance to sing the 7th Inning Stretch, DJ and Drink Specials. Holy cow. 622 N Fairbanks
