A. Montgomery Ward is the reason Chicago has that great front yard that is Grant Park. He fought for years to ensure that the area would remain “forever clear and free” as a public square so that everyone would have access to the lakefront. Now he’s to be honored with his own open space on the Chicago River. Formerly known as Erie Park, the recently enhanced area will be dedicated Monday, October 18 to the retail magnate.
