From Army Boots to Sneakers: Chrome Forged Rubber Machine Comes To Chicago

Chrome Industries is known for its “bombproof” gear: bags, apparel, and footwear that are made for city cyclists from military grade materials.

Their products are made individually, including their new Forged Rubber sneakers. These durable footwear are made using a 70-year-old machine that was found in a basement in Slovakia. Formerly used to make army boots, Chrome has adapted it to make shoes fit for demanding city streets.

This weekend you can see this vintage machine and its modern purpose. From 11am to 7pm today and tomorrow stop into the Chrome HUB at 1529 N Milwaukee Ave to see how each sole is fused directly on the upper using heated pressure. If you’re one of the first 100 people to arrive today you can get your pair for 50% off.

For more info on these sneakers check out their lookbook. Better yet, stop by Chrome and see them for yourself!
