In a stellar summer send-off Harry Caray’s Tavern on Navy Pier hosted a free concert with the Gin Blossoms and Malea McGuinness. It was a chilly evening, but they managed to heat things up!
Malea McGuinness warmed up the crowd with her soulful voice, and once the Gin Blossoms took the stage the audience really came to life. One couple drove all the way from Atlanta just for this concert. After seeing them play live I can understand why. Front man Robin Wilson handed out tambourines to audience members, and seeing the glee on their faces as they played along with the band would have made going worthwhile even if I didn’t like the music!
I was fortunate to have VIP access, which included space in front of the stage, open bar, and small bites from Harry Caray’s. These were all delicious, but I think our favorite was the chicken barbecue pizza (although the mini-burgers were pretty darn awesome, too). Check out my pictures of this fun and entertaining evening from what I daresay is the best “seat” in the house!
