Cook County

Cook County Health & Hospitals
This bureau oversees the public hospitals in the County, as well as the County’s clinic network and the Department of Public Health.

Clerk of the Circuit Court
The Cook County Clerk’s office maintains all records for the courts and files all court paperwork. You can obtain forms and records online as well as limited docket information.

Cook County
Main website for Cook County, the second largest county in the country, encompassing 950 square miles and 133 municipalities (including the City of Chicago) and serving over 6 million residents. The site provides links to information on all the agencies and elected officials within the County and central county information (such as employment, county board information, etc).

Cook County Assessor
The assessor’s office oversees the assessment of all property in Cook County. Assessments are done on a tri-annual basis. They also oversee any exemptions (such as senior citizen or homeowner exemptions) for property taxes. You can view the assessments for all properties (with photos) in the County online here.

Cook County Board of Review
This three member board hears property tax assessment appeals. The Board has the power to revise, correct, change, alter, modify or confirm any assessment in whole or in part. Online you can find filing dates, forms, and other necessary information about the appeal process.

Cook County Circuit Court Chief Judge
The Chief Judge’s offices oversees all courts in the Cook County Circuits. They set the court schedules, provide the rules of the court and oversee the judges who sit in the circuit. This includes jury administration information.

Cook County Clerk’s Office
The Clerk administers many functions for the County. They include: election services, vital records (birth, marriage, death), marriage licenses (you can also be married at the Clerk’s office!), certain property tax responsibilities (redemption, tax rates, tax maps), county board proceedings (meeting minutes and ordinances).

Cook County Recorder of Deeds
The Recorder’s new document repository website allows users to find select documents that are filed with the recorder’s office (mainly property related, deeds, liens, etc.) and obtain copies online.

Cook County Sheriff’s Office
The Sheriff oversees law enforcement for all of unincorporated Cook County, court services, the jail system, boot camp and community service activities.

Cook County State’s Attorney
The website for the State’s Attorney’s office, that represents the County in all legal matters. They also provide community outreach programs and publications.

Cook County Treasurer
The treasurer’s office oversees collection of all County property taxes. You can pay property taxes online, find necessary forms, check payment status and other related information.

This is the official web site for Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White. What that actually means is you can find information on getting your driver’s license and plates, traffic laws, DUIs, and organ & tissue donor programs. You can renew your plates online and report securities fraud. You can also change your address with the Secretary of State’s office and find your nearest driver’s facility. Bookmark this site so that when your plates come up for renewal you don’t have to trek down to the license branch and wait for hours.
