For 26 years Chef Priscila Satkoff has impressed diners and critics alike with her Mexican cuisine at her Old Town restaurant, Salpicon!. As a native of Colonia San Angel in Mexico City she’s “obsessed with educating the American public on the true art form of
Mexican cuisine and the freshness of its flavors and dishes”. She’s received several accolades over the years and now she’s receiving two more.
One is her very own day! Mayor Rahm Emanuel has declared today, September 29, “Chef Priscila Satkoff Day”. Then on November 16 she’ll be inducted into the Chicago Culinary Museum’s Chefs Hall Of Fame. Previous inductees include Charlie Trotter, Jimmy Bannos, Carrie Nahabadien, Art Smith, and her cohort in south-of-the-border cuisine, Rick Bayless. Originally scheduled for tonight, the gala was not only moved to the later date but the price to attend has been reduced from $160 to $110. It will be an evening of mixing, mingling, and (I’m willing to bet) Mexican!
