Cancer sucks. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been touched by it, either personally or through a family member, friend, neighbor or co-worker. There are many ways you can help. The Avon Walk and Susan G Koman Foundation are just two of many fine organizations funding research to fight breast cancer.
October may be the month that’s so well publicized, encouraging people to wear pink to support the fight against breast cancer, but this Sunday, November 9, please don your favorite pink outfit or pink ribbon and join the fun at The Bedford. There will be silent auction with many great items to bid on including a pair of Melissa Etheridge tickets courtesy of Chicago’s 100.3. By just being there Sunday you’ll help support covering medical treatment for a very special young lady, Christie LaMountain. I have known several people over the years who have bravely fought this horrible cancer and, from my perspective, worrying about paying the medical bills should be the least of their concerns. Health should be the number one priority.
Christie is a fantastic photographer and wonderful person who years ago regularly babysat my son. If you’ve been to concerts in Chicago you may have seen her there with her camera. She needs to get back to having fun at concerts and done with her chemo. She’s young and strong and knowing how great she was with my boy will eventually become a fantastic mother. There’s so much ahead of her, let’s help get her through this tough patch.
See you at The Bedford on Sunday.
