History In The Re-Making

The Haymarket Affair was one of the seminal moments in Chicago’s past. In May of 1886 workers across the country went on strike to protest 14 hour work days at wages that couldn’t support a family. These protests led to a fatal riot at Haymarket Square, located at Des Plaines and Randolph. Tomorrow there will be a reenactment of the fateful event, beginning with a dedication of a new plaque and followed by an afterparty at Haymarket Brewery.

The event is free and costumes and props will be provided, so everyone can be a part of history.
