Here at The Local Tourist we’re big fans of social media. Twitter and Facebook have enabled us to reach a much larger audience than through search engines alone, and have helped to foster an active and engaged community. Now we’ve got a new favorite: Whrrl.
TLT’s goal is to provide an online tool that enables people to get the most out of their offline life, and Whrrl extends that goal. It’s a location-based check-in service that not only lets you tell the world where you are (or only those in the world you want to know), it also lets you add recommendations and pictures. Where does TLT come in? Societies.
These are like virtual clubs, and we’ve got one. The Local Tourist Society is a collection of places that will help you “experience the fascination of a tourist and feel the comfort of the local”. And just like TLT, which is not only for you, but by you, you can make your own recommendations.
