Drinking chemicals is generally a bad idea and more and more people are trying to cut out artifically flavored, colored, and sweetened beverages. Caffeinated Club to the rescue.
Caffeinated Club is naturally flavored club soda, with no calories, no sugar, and no artificial sweeteners. What it does have is caffeine, the same amount you can expect from a can of cola.
The beverage is the brainchild of Glenview’s Rocky Mosele. He wanted a pick-me-up drink but he didn’t want to ingest chemical caramel coloring and fake flavors so he created this innovative line of naturally flavored club sodas.
“I thought, ‘Why doesn’t my club soda have caffeine in it?’ Since there wasn’t, I decided to create one,” said Mosele.
Options include lemon, raspberry, orange-grapefruit, and clear (unflavored). I was sent a case that included a six pack of each flavor so I could try this for myself. The timing was perfect. I’ve recently begun cutting out as many chemicals from my diet as possible, switching from artificial sweeteners to stevia and from store-bought colas to making my own with the help of Chef Jill Houk’s “The Complete Soda Making Book.”
I’m not alone, and Caffeinated Club fits right in with the desire of so many people to have more control over what’s put into their bodies and to buy from companies who are transparent. Mosele even does the bottling in his Glenview facility, in clear BPA-free recyclable plastic bottles.
So how’s it taste? Fresh and refreshing, like naturally flavored club soda. The fruit flavors are subtle and the raspberry tastes like raspberry, the lemon like lemon, etc. Since the caffeine is the same amount you’d get from a can of cola you don’t get the jitters like you can with sugary energy drinks. And since it’s club soda it mixes quite well with spirits.
To “join” the Caffeinated Club check out their store locator. They’ve got limited distribution now but are expanding. You can also order directly from their website, from Amazon, and from Peapod. Want it in your neighborhood store? Print out their request form and take it to your local grocer.
