Loop-y For Lights

The Magnificent Mile Lights Parade was Saturday, and now Michigan Avenue is festooned with millions of twinkling lights. Not to be outdone, the Loop has its own set of decorations.

The Chicago Loop Alliance has introduced Lightscape, a light and sound installation on State Street. Instead of being a temporary adornment, these low-energy LEDs are designed to be permanent and can change with the seasons and the holidays. In addition to the pretty lights each of the twelve planters from Van Buren to Lake Street will also have speakers broadcasting music and special announcements, so don’t be surprised if that tree starts talking to you!
