Over the last year River North restaurant Mercadito has invited local chefs to create their own specialty tacos. They then donated 5% of the proceeds from these masterpieces to Share Our Strength, an organization devoted to ending childhood hunger. Yesterday they announced a donation of $3,768 will be made from this year-long campaign.
They’re so excited about it that they’re going to do it again. Their first featured chef will be Michael Kornick of mk, DMK Burger, Fish Bar and N9NSteak. Beginning November 1 you can get his creation: Tacos Nopalitos y Pollo, or cactus tacos with chicken and tomatillo. Upcoming chefs will include Justin Large and Paul Kahan of Big Star and Giuseppe Tentori of Boka and GT Fish & Oyster.
