If you happen to click on John “Nunu” Zomot‘s facebook profile you will come across several pictures of him with famous celebrites…Emmylou Harris, Gregg Allman, Robert Plant, Mavis Staples, etc. Yeah, he gets to rub shoulders with big names because he manages to capture their images in the most impressive way and they know it. Zomot is a well known rock & roll photographer in Chicago. A few of his many concert shots have included Living Colour, Whitney Houston, Lenny Kravitz, The Rolling Stones and Kings Of Leon. The last time I ran into him it was at a show at City WInery (I believe it was Mike Nesmith). Unfortunately, not long after I saw him he suffered a major heart attack. He is recovering and I have a feeling he’ll be doing even better after Friday.
The Misfits headline a benefit for Zomot this Friday at 11:30pm at City Winery (doors open at 11pm). Proceeds will help cover Zomot’s massive medical costs. Special guest Private Instigators will also perform and eleven year old guitar prodigy Brandon Niederauer will be on hand to jam with The Misfits. Awesome “NUNU Pics” will be available Friday for purchase and through silent auction bidding.
