As soon as summer rolls around Chicagoans flock outside like seagulls to a busy harbor. We go shopping at farmers markets and art fairs, dine at the hundreds of outdoor cafes, and attend as many street fests and outdoor concerts as possible. We even watch our movies outside.
The Chicago Park District’s Movies in the Parks brings free outdoor film screenings to parks all over the city. It’s the 18th season for this fun event, and this year is bigger than ever. How big? There are 221 events this summer. That’s HUGE!
In addition to the neighborhood park events, you can also relax on the Great Lawn in Millennium Park. Their Summer Film Series begins on June 5 with Hairspray and ends August 21 with Slumdog Millionaire. We’ve got the list of those screenings, and below you can find the entire summer schedule for the Movies in the Parks events.
All movies begin at dusk, and they’re free, so grab your picnic basket and your blanket!
