Getting around Chicago can be expensive, unless you have a bike. Then it’s free. But what if you don’t have a bike? Enter the Chicago Bike Swap. While you won’t be able to pick up any two-wheeled transportation for free, you will be able to find that bicycle built for you for less than you’d spend at a retail store. There will be several of those present and offering deals, as well as individuals and nonprofits looking to trade wheels. While you’re there you can learn about bike safety and security, see demos and presentations, and watch bike polo and The Racketeers, an all-female bike troupe.
Admission is $5 for Active Transportation Alliance members and $10 for non-members. If you’ve got a bike to swap it’s $5 to add it to the sale.
The event is Saturday, March 9, and UIC Physical Education building from 10am to 5pm.
