New York Wing Factory opens in Lincoln Park

Diners on the East Coast have long known about the mouthwatering wings available at the New York Wing Factory. Now Chicagoans can get in on the action at the new location which just opened at 2464 North Lincoln Avenue.

New York Wing Factory is best known for their signature style of chicken wings and vast selection of unique and local craft brews. While the Chicago location will feature the famed “Factory Wings”, local diners can also expect a chef-driven menu that is unique to the Lincoln Park location. The bar program focuses on a rotating selection of craft beers, including 20 drafts, up to 30 cans and bottles, and 5 signature cocktails.

What makes a Factory Wing? The chef begins with fresh, premium product that is never frozen or preserved. Factory wings are offered both boneless and bone-in, each battered in a secret mix of flour and spice, fried twice for the ultimate crispy finish and then individually flavored with either Soy Garlic or Spicy Soy Garlic sauce. Regular wings are also available with a selection of original sauces including salt & pepper, Hickory BBQ, Soy Garlic, Medium, Spicy Soy Garlic, Hot, Jalapeno BBQ, or for those who are particularly brave, the ANGRY sauce!

The warm and inviting space is divided into two main rooms, allowing for both family-friendly dining and a lively bar atmosphere at the same time. The exposed brick walls, rustic wood tables and benches, and over 30 large screen HD televisions make New York Wing Factory Lincoln Park’s new game day headquarters.

I was recently invited to bring a guest to experience the menu, and we were both delightfully surprised at the high quality and tremendous diversity of the menu. Although very simple, one of the standout items is the classic burger with American cheese and a secret “factory sauce.” This is one of the best standard burgers I have tasted in a long while. The bacon-cured ribs were ‘melt-in-your-mouth’ tender and wonderfully flavorful. For something a bit more exotic try out the inventive Truffled Mushroom burger with smoked Gouda and truffle aioli. They also have lighter options which include fresh salads and a vegetarian-friendly Fish & Chips entree served with Just Chips, Factory Slaw, and a lemon remoulade or malt vinegar for dipping.

Of course, the wings are the signature item at NYWF, and you will not be disappointed. Although I found the spicy wings to be just a bit too much for my personal taste, my friend loved them. The boneless wings are excellent, but the traditional bone-in wings were definitely the winner. The secret seasonings and double frying create a delightfully crispy texture that is unlike any other wing I have tried. These have now set a sort of ‘standard’ for me as I try out other wings in the city, and the bar is now set high.

New York Wing Factory is now open 7 days per week beginning at 4:00 p.m., closing at 2 a.m. Sunday through Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday. The kitchen is open until 11 p.m. You can get more information at their website, on Facebook, or Twitter.
