The Hard Rock Hotel was a hub of Lollapalooza activity this year with appearances from Twilight star Ashley Green, Joe Jonas, Betty Who, Fitz & The Tantrums, Ryan Cabrera, DJ The Jane Doze and actor Michael Peña.
Similar to the Lolla line-up, the Hard Rock’s vibe was a little mellow compared to year’s past but that didn’t stop artists, musicians, and VIPs from making it their pre- and post-Lolla pit stop.
The Friday night after-party lineup included a DJ set by Joe Jonas, a performance from ASTR, a performance from Lykke Li, and a DJ set by Danny Masterson – AKA DJ MOM JEANS.
DJ Mia Moretti opened Saturday night’s performance, before Smallpools and Grouplove (JD) pumped up the crowd for the Australian singer Betty Who.
Earlier in the day Betty played for a smaller crowd at a roof top pool party and it’s difficult to say which venue had the better performance. Her Hard Rock performance had an electric crowd and was reassurance that we’ll see her on larger stages in the future.
Last year Aaron Paul was everywhere. If there was a Lollapalooza bingo card, getting a picture of him was on B13. This year, I think that slot belongs to Danny Masterson. He had DJ sets across the Rockit Ranch venues – Thursday at The Underground, Friday at Rockit, and Saturday at Ay Chiwowa – and his Hard Rock performance solidified his spot on the board.
We also saw a number of performers swing by the hotel either before or after their own after-party sets. The list included both Ivy Levan (performed at Rockit) and Spoon (played at Metro).
It was a good weekend to be at the Hard Rock Hotel and we’re excited to see them turn up the volume on next year’s event.
