The casual fashion brand Uniqlo plans to open its first Midwest location on the Magnificent Mile in the fall of 2015.
The 60,000-square-foot flagship store will be across the Water Tower Place, in the former Filene's Basement space, and sandwiched between Topshop and H&M. Located at 830 N. Michigan Ave., this will be the Japanese brand’s second largest U.S. store, behind their Fifth Avenue flagship in New York City.
Uniqlo’s casual style is matched by casual prices with men’s jeans hovering around $50, men’s sweaters at $40, polo shirts for $22, and women’s dresses ranging between $30-70.
The brand also has a golf apparel line with PGA golfer Adam Scott, a tennis apparel line with the recent Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, and a series of t-shirts designed in partnership with Pharrell. Sadly, large hats are not available.
The brand also offers a unique ultra-lightweight line of Heattech jackets, leggings, and accessories designed for the fall and winter months.
The clothing has a young look and style compared some of the more traditional Michigan Ave. shops and the neighboring Gold Coast boutiques, but we’re predicting it will be wildly popular.
