As a Packers fan, I can count on one hand the number of Bears related items that I support: Chicago's super fan group: Da’ Suit Crew, State Farm’s Chicago "super fans" commercial featuring Aaron Rodgers and the Ditka Dash 5K.
On November 30th, the Ditka Dash is creating an army of “Ditkas” for a 5k race along the lake. Complete with mustaches, aviators, a shirt just like Da Coach used to wear, approximately 10,000 runners will converge on Soldier Field for one of my favorite running routes.
- The problem: It’s sold out.
- The solution: Volunteer to earn your spot.*
- The result: You look like Ditka, you run 3.1 miles and then you enjoy post-race Miller Lite (aka unofficial Beer of the God**)
With five waves of runners, the organizers are looking for volunteers to assist with course marshaling, start & finish line support, gear check, packet pick-up, water station support and several other areas. According to the website, the number of participant space for volunteers is limited so you’re interested, email them today (firstname.lastname@example.org).
I’ve had an opportunity to run several races from Grant Park and Soldier Field and the organizers of the Ditka Dash know their stuff and will put on an awesome experience. For more information about the race, visit the Ditka Dash website or to volunteer, email email@example.com.
*Volunteer/runner space is limited. **Ditka is God.
