Wings and a Movie with Jake Melnick’s

2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of America’s greatest food: the Buffalo Chicken Wing. From obscure western NY invention to one of America’s most popular foods, the documentary/ comedy will make its Chicago premiere this Saturday at the Gene Siskel Film Center.

WING HUNT follows a group of wing enthusiasts on a journey through America’s ‘Wing Belt’ as they attempt to find the world’s best Buffalo wing. The journey pushes the group across 2,627 miles to 72 bars and restaurants and 270 types of wings. After 16 days on the road, two-days of heated debate, and I assume a few bottles of TUMS, the judges declared the greatest of all.

The documentary’s colorful characters includes Director Matt Reynolds, semi-pro eater Ben Beavers, amateur sauce-maker Ron Wieszczyk, Hawaiian chef Ric Kealoha, as well as a befuddled Slovak film crew and Reynolds’ ever patient girlfriend Lucie.

Following the movie, Director Matt Reynolds will be on hand to for a Q&A and free wings from .
