How do you know a chef is good? When he graduates from culinary school and is immediately invited to open a new restaurant by one of the best chefs in the world. Josh Capon began his career cooking for friends at the University of Maryland, and he was so good he transferred to Johnson and Wales University. At the time, it was the only culinary school that offered a Bachelor's degree. When he graduated, Charlie Palmer (the Charlie Palmer), swooped him up and asked him to help open The Lenox Room.

Since that auspicious beginning Capon has created his own culinary empire. He's the owner of Lure Fishbar in Manhattan and its new location in Miami, and three other New York Restaurants: Burger & Barrel (B&B), El Toro Blanco, and Bowery Meat Company. He's won Rachel Ray's annual Burger Bash competition four times, and is a frequest guest on Bar Rescue.

You might say he knows his stuff.

Capon is passionate about helping people skip packaged and processed foods to make delicious food themselves. On Friday, January 19 at 12pm, Chef Capon will be sharing his passion - and some of his secrets - with a cooking demo at Macy's on State Street in Chicago, IL (111 N State St, 7th Floor Culinary Studio). A select member of their Culinary Council, the popular chef will share stories as well as let you in on some culinary secrets and techniques. AND you get to eat and drink!

Once you've been inspired, head to the lower level to pick up some tools for your own culinary creations in the Home department. If you purchase $30 or more worth of goodies, you'll get a $10 Macy's gift card, a special gift, and a chance to meet the Chef.

If you haven't been to a Culinary Council event, it's a delightful experience. Not only do you get to learn from a master in a room filled with fellow foodies, you'll also get to sample the chef's cuisine. I'll be in the audience, front and center, on January 19 - hope you'll be "Lured" to join me!
