Chicago SummerDance 2017 Complete Schedule

Get out your dancing shoes! The Chicago SummerDance Festival, the largest annual outdoor live music and dancing series in the United States, returns for its 21st year to ’s Spirit of Music Garden (601 South Michigan Avenue). From June 23 through September 10 you can learn how to dance with lessons and live music on Friday through Sunday evenings. They cover styles from all over the world, and even the floor is earth-friendly since it's made of 100% recycled materials.

This year they're adding SummerDance in the Parks. Five neighborhood parks are hosting the popular series on Thursdays from July 13 through September 14.

New in 2017 is the SummerDance-Off. Show off your footwork and steppin’ skills at a series of city-wide amateur competitions on July 8, 15, 22 and 29 at Chicago Park District locations. The winners of each local contest will then compete at the Dance-Off finale at the SummerDance Celebration in Millennium Park on August 26. The new dance festival also brings a full day of dance competitions, social dancing and performances from noon to 9:30 p.m. Additional highlights include a DJ Dance Party at Cloud Gate, Circle Dance Lessons on the Great Lawn, professional dance performances at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and much more.

As always, SummerDance is free to attend. Just show up and get your groove on!

Dance lessons begin at 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays and at 4pm on Sundays. Lessons are followed by live music and dancing from 7:30pm to 9:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 5pm to 7pm on Sundays. SummerDance in the Parks on Thursdays begin with lessons at 6pm followed by dancing to live music from 7pm to 9pm.
