Thinking about joining a gym? Before you put down a hefty chunk of change, step into a Chicago Park District Fitness Center. You can sweat it out at locations throughout the city during the Free Fitness Week January 8 through January 14.
In addition to cardio and strength training equipment, they've also got classes. Take spin, yoga, pilates and kickboxing classes and you can learn about nutrition. Have kids? They've got family friendly options, too. Twenty fitness centers also have lap swim times.
If you choose to sign up, fees start at just $17 a month, and if you purchase a Gold Card for $80 you'll have access to all fitness centers city-wide for three months. An annual Gold Card is just $250.
This year if you purchase a membership during Free Fitness Week you'll get a free water bottle and towel courtesy of POWERADE.
Visit the Chicago Park District's website for a complete list of fitness centers and to register.
