Saturday, October 4, you’ll want to be sure to skip breakfast. And really, any and all stomach-filling activities for the preceding 24 hours, because we’ve got the scoop on the most exciting lunch plans you’ll have this fall!
America’s favorite comfort food comes to town that early October morn in the form of the first annual Mac & Cheese Fest at the UIC Forum from 12 – 3 pm. Put on by Cece & Melinda with Raymi Productions (seriously, we want your jobs), the fest is a celebration of the beloved cheesy dish, which dates back to the 14th century. Because even when central plumbing eluded medieval living, mac & cheese could be found on the dinner table. Priorities were clearly in order.
Approximately 50 Chicago chefs will show off their versions of mac & cheese, inspired from different cultures, family traditions and their restaurant's menu. One lucky chef, recognized by attendees (this can be YOU!) and a panel of foodies, will take home "The Golden Noodle."
The $50 entry includes all you can taste from participating restaurants and 5 drink tickets for craft beer, red and white wines, and spirits.
You’ll nourish your soul too, as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana.
Visit www.macandcheesechicago.com to score your tickets and for the full line up of participating restaurants!
