Chicago Youth Centers hosts gala to raise funds for the Lawndale Community

(CYC), Chicago’s largest independent youth and family services organization, recently presented its second annual Shake & Stir fundraiser. This James Bond-themed fundraiser celebrated and raised funds for CYC-Sidney Epstein Youth Center and its work with children and families in North Lawndale.

The gala took place in the stunning Wintrust Grand Banking Hall (231 S. LaSalle Street) and was attended by 350 guests. Attendees, many dressed for the James Bond theme, were treated to delectable food catered by Chef Christopher Tong of . The extensive silent auction helped to raise over $88,000 to benefit CYC-Sidney Epstein Youth Center, located at 3415 W. 13th Place. This facility houses a high-tech Maker Lab, outdoor peace garden, computer lab, and a fully-equipped gymnasium. Each year, this Center serves more than 200 children in North Lawndale.

“North Lawndale is a historically underserved community, but its leaders are committed to creating positive change,” said Dan Feeney, CYC Board Chair. “CYC is proud to be part of a movement by North Lawndale community leaders, residents, and organizations to invest in the neighborhood’s future by providing a pathway toward upward mobility for its children.”
